SLAP 12, Chaminade 5

The Chaminade Middle School team played its second game in history, falling 12-5 to the hands of SLAP. Even though it was a loss, I was extremely happy with the way we played. We started off poorly, giving up three breakaway goals, and turning the ball over on offense. However, the team managed to turn it around midway through the second quarter. After a timeout, in which the priority became preventing the breakaway and setting up the offense, the team started to play much better. The defense, anchored by Jaime Haro, did not allow a breakaway goal after the timeout. Jaime made sure that he was the first person back on defense, and played excellent 2 meter defense. Shallow end goalie Joe Tillman made some important steals and outlet passes that were able to get our offense. In the deep end, Mark Corwin played some stellar goalie, making some big saves and steals. On the offensive end, Garret Knasel took over. Garret led the team with four goals, including one half court bomb that went in the upper corner. Also scoring was Graydon Konzen, who ripped a shot from about 6 meters out. Also on offense, Jaime Haro made some high school level passes, one to Garret Knasel that set him up for his fourth goal.

Practice at 3:00 on Thursday after school, game at 12:15 at Ladue on Saturday. Also, we will now be practicing two days a week, starting next week. More on this at practice on Thursday.
